Women on Thursday stormed the palace of Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Olatunji to protest the increase cases of kidnap and ritual killings in the capital of Osun state.
Factual Times correspondent reports that women were waving leaves and chanting sorrowful songs as they matched to the palace at Oja Oba area of Osogbo.
The protesters requested that the king should address them, but they were turned down by the palace guards who said Oba Olatunji traveled to Offa to attend a function.
The visibly angry women however, registered their displeasure over the growing ritual killings and kidnapping in Osogbo, especially, saying, “We now live in fear.”
One of the protesters who claimed to be a trader at Olu-Ode Market explained that the situation had become worrisome as some suspected ritualists now prowled the town, seeking human parts for ritual purposes.
The protesters urged the royal father, the state government, the Police and other security stakeholders to work together to curb the activities of kidnappers and ritualists in Osogbo and its environs.
