Gadaff Speaks at Kwara NYSC Orientation, Tasks Corps Members on Skills Acquisition

Former Special Assistant on Youth Empowerment to Kwara Governor,   Hon. Sulaimon Lekan Gadaff has advised Corps members to acquire skills to enhance their employability.

Gadaff made this call on Friday while speaking at Kwara NYSC Orientation Camp.

According to him, Nigeria today is not the Nigeria of our parents’ time. Having a degree alone is no longer enough. Across the country, we have intelligent and hardworking graduates who are unemployed, not because they are lazy, but because the system is under pressure and opportunities are limited.

His words: “The same Nigeria that is challenging you today is also full of opportunities, but only for those who are prepared, adaptable and skilled. In today’s world, skill acquisition is not just about making extra income.

“Your certificate may open the door, but your skill is what keeps you in the room. You do not need to learn everything. You only need to learn one useful and relevant skill and learn it well.”

Gadaff implored them to acquire digital skills such as graphic design, video editing, social media management, data analysis, coding or vocational skills such as fashion design, catering, photography and solar installation.

He noted that people are willing to pay for services rendered and acquiring those skills would make graduates self reliant as well as turn to job creators.

The ECOWAS Youth Ambassador encouraged Corps members to use their CDS activities for solve problems and add value to the society.

Kwara State Deputy Governor, Kayode Alabi, NYSC State Coordinator and other dignitaries attended the Batch A Orientation Programme.
