Governor Abdulrazaq Genuinely Loves Sports – Engr Nurudeen Adeyemi

Engr. Nurudeen Adeyemi Balogun (ENACT) is an aerospace engineer and a board member of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) has described Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq as a leader that genuinely loves sports.

Engr. Adeyemi stated this on Sunday after purchasing all the match tickets, a gesture that will grant Kwara United fans and supporters free access to the Rashidi Yekini Main Bowl, the venue of the encounter with visiting Kano Pillars.

In an interview with Hammed Adio, OLY, the APC Chieftain shares his childhood experience as Kwara United supporter.

What is the motivation behind your support for Kwara United?

Thank you, sir, for the question. Ever since we were young, we used to go to the stadium from Ilorin Grammar School, peeping through the holes because we did not have money to gain entry.

In those days, when there were about 30 minutes left in the game, they would open the gates for us to watch the last few minutes. We would see the Mighty Jets in action.

Since then, Kwara United has been the only football club I have truly supported. Unlike many Nigerians, I do not have any European team. As for me, I do not support Arsenal or Barcelona; none of them matters to me.

The only thing that matters to me is Kwara United FC. We need to get behind them and support them. We know we are at the bottom of the league right now, but with good support, we will surely rise again, like the phoenix, as they say.

I know there have been a lot of injuries, and some players’ aspirations were not met because we were expected to play in continental competitions this year.

We lost many of them, and we cannot blame them for that. However, with whatever we have left, we will continue to march forward and do our very best.

Any word about the fantastic things the administration is doing in the area of sports?

Oh my God! Many people do not know that His Excellency, Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq played Academicals football way back. His Excellency loves football; he played and truly enjoys it.

In fact, he loves every sport, even table tennis. If you see him playing table tennis, you will know he genuinely loves sports. That is why the investment His Excellency has made in sports in Kwara, both in infrastructure and human capital development, is significant.

He also cleared all the outstanding wages and allowances that we inherited.

Sports matter a lot to him, and that is why many of our youths are conquering not only nationally but globally, returning home with medals.

His Excellency loves sports and is intentional about it because it builds our brand in Kwara and also develops young people. They will always remain ambassadors of Kwara wherever they go.
