2016 Financial Report: Kwara State House of Assembly Summons Council Official

The Kwara State House of Assembly has summoned management of all the 16 local government areas of Kwara state over thier 2016 financial report.

The exercise takes place at the committee room at Kwara State House of Assembly complex, Ilorin

The House said the summon was in line with constitutional provision that allows house of assembly to summon government agencies, ministries and departments in course of performing oversight functions.

Chairman House Committee on Public Accounts, Hon Taiwo Abdulrasheed Abdullahi in a phone chat with Factual Times reporter said all the local government were invited to clarify queries raised by Auditor General of the state while reviewing financial report of local government areas.

Hon Abdullahi said ” We summoned the local government not the caretaker committee in line with constitution provision that empower us invite any agency handling public funds.

“The Auditor General of the state while reviewing financial reports of local government areas raised some queries which many local government authorities could not provide answer to.

“Hence, we invited them to get the true picture. We scheduled four local government areas per day. we attended to Asa, Edu, Oyun and Offa local government areas on Monday. The exercise will continue on Tuesday after plenary”
