The African Democratic Congress (ADC) Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar has launched citizens’ engagement platform to interact with Nigerians ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The former Vice President during the Ask Atiku citizens’ engagement session on Thursday responded to questions via social media and phone calls from Nigeria in English and Hausa languages.
He reiterated his pledge to restore fuel subsidy and partner with state governments to improve rural roads, noting that the measures will reduce the cost of transporting agricultural produce and cut food prices.
Answering the question of a caller Briggs, from Abonnema Rivers State, who raised the challenges farmers face transporting their produce to urban markets.
“By that action alone, we hope to see a decline or a reduction in the cost of transportation of farm produce or agricultural produce to markets,” Atiku said, referring to his proposed subsidy restoration.
Atiku added that by reducing the cost of transportation, the prices of agricultural food products would also decrease.
Speaking on road infrastructure, the PDP presidential candidate said his government would partner with federal and state governments to develop roads linking rural communities and the markets.
“So we will engage both authorities, both levels of government, to make sure that these roads are properly built so that they can last long and serve our farmers, particularly from rural areas,” he said.
Atiku’s Running mate, Rotimi Amaechi also answered question on ADC plan to tackle insecurity in the country. He hinted that they would create jobs to make citizens to engage in productive ventures and reduce poverty rate.
The Ask Atiku forum was held after the launch of Ask AA citizen-engagement platform by ADC on October 15 giving Nigerians the opportunity to ask the presidential candidate questions on governance, leadership, public service, and his agenda for the nation.
