Akpabio Speaks on 2027 Presidential Ambition

The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, has denied any involvement in the circulation of posters in Kaduna State that suggest a political alliance with former Governor Nasir El-Rufai for the 2027 presidential election.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Akpabio’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Eseme Eyiboh, said the circulation of the posters was the “handiwork of mischief makers”.

Eyiboh said Akpabio does not have any intention to contest for president in 2027, saying that any claim that his principal is nursing any ambition of a joint presidential ticket with El-rufai is “spurious and mischievous.”

He emphasized that Akpabio is currently focused on his role of supporting President Bola Tinubu in resetting Nigeria and restoring the nation’s pride on the global stage.
