APC HoR Aspirant, Afolabi Cautions Against Self-Declaration of Result

A leading House of Representatives Aspirant for EDU/MORO/PATIGI FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY, Barrister Hussein Afolabi has urged APC members to respect party process and guide against self declaration of primary election result.

Afolabi made this call on Sunday while reacting to development on just concluded APC primary election for 2027 general elections.

His words: “I wish to sincerely appreciate the overwhelming support, encouragement and confidence reposed in us by party members and supporters across Edu/Moro/Patigi Federal Constituency throughout the APC House of Representatives primary elections on 16/5/2026.

“At this critical moment, I urge our supporters, stakeholders and the good people of the constituency to remain calm, peaceful and law-abiding as events continue to unfold. As a legal practitioner and committed party member, I firmly believe that the Party remains supreme and that there are laid down procedures, guidelines and constitutional processes governing the conduct of primary elections, collation of results and official declaration of winners.”

He described the premature self-declarations and circulation of questionable documents s attempts to manipulate public perception.

According to him, while political propaganda is not new in our democracy, there is a very thin line between propaganda and conduct capable of raising serious legal and criminal concerns. Disturbingly, allegations of forged results, forged signatures and unauthorised declarations have now crept into the process. This naturally raises important questions about character, integrity and leadership.

“Despite receiving reports and evidence from several wards indicating overwhelming support for our aspiration, we have deliberately refrained from making premature declarations or engaging in conduct capable of overheating the polity because we respect the rule of law, party supremacy and institutional order.” Afolabi noted.

I therefore urge all co-aspirants and our various supporters to exercise restraint, remain responsible and allow the appropriate party organs conclude the process in accordance with established procedures.

Our democracy can only thrive where discipline, patience, transparency and respect for constituted authority prevail over desperation, misinformation and self-help.

I remain fully committed to peace, unity and the democratic ideals of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Signed:
Barr. Hussein Afolabi
APC Aspirant,
Edu/Moro/Patigi Federal Constituency
Kwara State.
