Awoniyi Hosts Governor AbdulRazaq at Kwara Kiddies League Grand Finale

Preparations are in top gear as the Kwara Kiddies League (KKL) Season IV Grand Finale takes centre stage on Sunday, December 14, 2025, at the Kwara Football Academy (KFA) Pitch, George Innih Stadium, Ilorin.

The highly anticipated youth football showpiece will gather an impressive lineup of dignitaries, football stakeholders, and grassroots development enthusiasts from within and outside Kwara State.

This year’s edition will be hosted by Super Eagles striker, Taiwo Awoniyi, whose commitment to youth development continues to inspire the next generation of talents in the state.

The Chairman of the Kwara State Football Association, Mallam Abdullahi Musa, will serve as the Chief Host, while the Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, Coach Bolakale Adisa Mogaji, will grace the occasion as the Father of the Day.

A powerful delegation from the state legislature is also expected, including the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, House Leader Hon. Abdulkadir Oba, and the Chairperson of the House Committee on Sports, Hon. Rukayat Shittu. Commissioners, local government chairmen, top government aides, sports administrators, corporate leaders, media professionals, and community stakeholders will also be present for what promises to be a landmark grassroots event.

The Grand Finale will feature a full parade of matches across categories, bringing an exciting close to a season filled with talent, passion, and exceptional youth performance. One of the key highlights will be the unveiling of winners in notable award categories such as Goalkeeper of the Season, Defender of the Season, Midfielder of the Season, Top Striker of the Season, and Best U13 Player of the Season.

Young stars from Makamz FA, Unicorn FA, KFA, Koller FA, Afrikan Kiddies, Barca Kiddies, Future Stars, Achievers FA, Surprise FA, and Gaa Akanbi Kids have been shortlisted based on their outstanding season displays.

Speaking ahead of the event, Host Taiwo Awoniyi described the KKL as a beacon of hope for emerging footballers, adding that the Grand Finale is not just a ceremony but a celebration of dreams, resilience, and opportunity. He called on the public to turn out en masse to cheer the children who have shown exceptional discipline and talent.

Organising Committee Chairman, Olaide Ahli, assured that preparations have reached 100% completion, emphasising that security and logistics have been fully arranged for a smooth and memorable experience. He extended heartfelt appreciation to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his unwavering support for youth empowerment and sports development, noting that the Governor’s vision has continued to strengthen grassroots football in the state.

Ahli encouraged parents, academy coaches, football fans, and the general public to make the event a family day out, celebrating the rising stars whose performances continue to position Kwara as a leading hub for youth football development in Nigeria.
