BBYDI Hails Emir Sulu Gambari at 85, Acknowledges His Support for their Programs

The Brain Builders Youth Development Initiative (BBYDI) on Tuesday acknowledged the support of Emir of Ilorin, His Royal Highness, Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari for their mission and programmes.

BBYDI in a statement issued by the Commissioner Officer, Sanni Alausa joined millions Emir of Ilorin, as he marks his 85th birthday.

The statement read: “For nearly three decades on the throne, His Royal Highness has remained a respected voice of reason and unity, guiding the Ilorin Emirate with integrity and purpose. His remarkable journey, from the judiciary to the royal court, has left an enduring mark on Nigeria’s democratic and traditional institutions.

“Beyond his stature as a royal father, the Emir has been a steadfast ally in the fight for gender justice and youth development. His support for BBYDI’s mission, particularly our campaign against gender-based violence (GBV), has been both public and powerful. His endorsement helped mobilise community leaders, spark intergenerational conversations, and affirm that violence against women and girls has no place in any society.

“His Royal Highness embodies the values we strive to uphold at BBYDI—justice, inclusiveness, and courage,” said Nurah Jimoh-Sanni, Executive Director at BBYDI. “His visible support for our GBV prevention work has empowered countless communities to speak out, take action, and create safer spaces for women and girls. We are honoured to have him as a partner in this vital work.”

As Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano, and Muhammad Kamalud-Deen University, Ilorin, the Emir continues to champion education and enlightenment. His voice has remained influential in promoting youth empowerment, interfaith harmony, and sustainable community development across Nigeria.

“As he celebrates this milestone, we honour not just the longevity of his reign, but the depth of his impact. May his legacy continue to inspire unity, uphold justice, and strengthen the bonds that hold our communities together.”
