In exchange for 150 Palestinian prisoners detained in Israel, the government of Israel and Hamas agreed to a four-day ceasefire on Wednesday. This would also permit the entry of humanitarian supplies into the besieged enclave and the release of 50 hostages held in Gaza.
It indicated that the break would be prolonged by one day for every ten more hostages released, but it made no mention of the release of Palestinian detainees in exchange.
After its fighters stormed into Israel on October 7, killing 1,200 people, Israeli counts indicate that Hamas is thought to be holding more than 200 captives.
According to a statement from the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, there would be a four-day break in fighting while 50 women and children will be released.

In return for 150 Palestinian women and children detained in Israeli jails, Hamas promised to release the 50 hostages. According to a statement from the Palestinian organisation, the truce agreement will also permit hundreds of trucks carrying fuel, medical supplies, and humanitarian goods to enter Gaza.
It further stated that throughout the truce time, Israel has promised not to assault or detain anyone in any section of Gaza.
President of the United States Joe Biden praised the agreement.
In exchange for the release “of a number of Palestinian women and children held in Israeli prisons,” the Qatari government announced that 50 civilian women and children captives in Gaza will be freed.
It added in a statement that the truce’s start time would be revealed in the following 24 hours.
