Engr Sunday Babalola Shares His Last Experience With Olupo
I received with great shock, the news of the demise of His Royal Majesty, Oba Sikiru Atanda Oladotun Sanni Ilufemiloye Woleola II. The news of his death is a surprise to me, having the fresh memory of my recent visit to him when I came to Kwara State on 1st of January, 2021. I recalled how we paid a courtesy visit to Four First Class Traditional Rulers in Igbomina Land just last month. This visit was on the request of the esteemed Royal fathers and the Custodians of our Traditions, who were impressed with various empowerment scheme our foundation bestowed upon able bodied youths and students in Kwara State. During the visit to Kabiyesi Olupo of Ajase-Ipo last month 1st January, 2021, we were warmly received. We had memorable and productive discussions with Kabiyesi. He was so warm, excited and glad to receive us in the palace. He prayed fervently for me and members of my crew who accompanied me.
The Late Kabiyesi’s 10 years reign was quite eventful and remains memorable. Oba Sikiru Woleola Sanni has done his very best and he has left an indelible imprint. His contributions towards the advancement of Ajase-Ipo, the entire Kwara South and Kwara State as a whole will remain evergreen. Oba Sikiru Woleola Sanni added glamour to the traditional institution in Kwara State within the time he reigned as Paramount Ruler in his Kingdom. The traditional institution in Kwara State will surely missed his intellectual prowess and versatility.
As the Chairman of Igbomina/Ekiti Traditional Council, The Late Olupo of Ajase-Ipo excellently paid his dues and left outstanding legacies. He will be sorely missed.
Last week my mind keep going to him. But I resisted calling him because I said this is Kabiyesi.
So sad. I have not been myself since morning.
I am short of words as last month that I visited Kabiyesi, he was in a sound state of health and never showed any deficiency at all. I am so rudely shocked and surprised to hear that today, he is no more. The discussion I had with Kabiyesi on the night of 1st January, 2021, will remain fresh in my memory. His death is a personal loss to me. Kabiyesi’s major concern was the plight of the teeming youths in the Community and other areas of Kwara South. He encouraged me to continue with the empowerment scheme, as this will give a new lease of life to those who are beneficiaries.
Since death is inevitable, and truly from God we came and we shall all return to Him at the appointed time. We take solace in the Almighty Creator that He has recalled Kabiyesi at His appointed time.

I extend my heart felt condolences to the Kwara State Government, the Kwara State Traditional Council, sons and daughters of Ajase-Ipo, friends and associates and the royal family over the demise of Kabiyesi.
It is my heart felt prayers that Almighty Allah will forgive his sins and transgressions and admit him into Al-Jannat Firdaus.
