Imojime: The Field Officer Actualizing Governor Alia’s Agenda in Road Construction

Benue State is blessed to have a visionary leader with political will, commitment and zeal to accelerate development of the state. Benue State Governor, Rev Father Hyacinth Alia has turned the state to construction site with massive infrastructural development projects.

Governor Alia upon his swearing-in in May 29, 2023 appointed experience Architecture with track record in construction, Isaac Tiza Imojime as Project Manager and later Commissioner for Works and Housing to drive his agenda of addressing infrastructural deficit in the state.

The Governor in his inaugural speech promised to address infrastructural deficit by building roads, bridges and township roads to energize businesses as well as boost economy.

His words: “We reviewed the state of water, health, education, sports, electricity, roads, public housing, telecommunications, and commerce infrastructure, amongst others, and found a highly unacceptable level of abandonment and decay”

It’s therefore not surprising when he flagged off the construction of 16 Makurdi township roads measuring 15.39km worth billions of naira.

Governor Alia hinted that the contract, awarded to an indigenous firm, was a significant step to achieving his goal of providing quality infrastructure for the people.

“The construction of the 16 roads, which is monumental, marks a significant milestone in our commitment to revolutionise the infrastructure of Benue. This is as we prepare to lay the foundation of a new Benue within our first 100 days in office.” He explained.

“A good road network is the lifeline of any thriving city, and Makurdi is not an exception.

The Commissioner for Works and Transport, Hon Tiza Imojime has been working round the clock to ensure delivery of quality jobs by contractors within the stipulated time.

The effective monitoring of ongoing road projects by the Commissioner has helped Benue people get value for their money inline with Governor Alia’s vision.

The passionate Commissioner’s effort is already yielding good fruits with completion of four road projects. These roads would improve transportation within the city, create ancillary job opportunities and stimulate economic growth.

Furthermore, the APC led administration has extended road construction to Gboko and other parts of Benue State.

No doubt, Imojime’s action shows he is a good field officer with clear understanding of Governor Alia’s vision and readiness to open up Benue State through construction of roads to link major cities.

While Benue residents are excited about prompt passage of over N200billion 2024 budget. A peep into budget analysis indicates that capital expenditures has significant percentage, therefore more funds will be available for construction of roads, bridges and other infrastructures.

Recall Governor Alia while presenting the 2024 budget estimate on the floor of the Benue State House of Assembly tagged. “Budget of infrastructure, development, job creation and poverty alleviation”, said the budget was aimed at fixing the broken Benue.

Conclusively, the composition of Benue State Executive Council laced with experienced, loyal and dedication Commissioners such as Hon Tiza Imojime, the Governor would continue to pilot the state affairs to gather heights and improve citizenry well being.
