Just In: Onnoghen’s Suspension: Senate To Reconvene on Tuesday

The Senate will on Tuesday January 29, 2018 reconvene to discuss the suspension of Justice Walter Onnoghen as Chief Justice of Nigeria by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Recall that President Buhari suspended Onnoghen on Friday following the order of Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT). The President has since appointed Justice Muhammed Tanko as Acting Chief Justice.

A statement issued by Senate Spokesman said National Assembly leadership would meet on Sunday to discuss legality of President’s action.

The Senate had on Wednesday embark on recess till after the forthcoming general elections.
