Kingship: Disquiet In Otun-Ekiti As Indigenes Reject Fayemi’s ‘Imposed’ Candidate
Thousands of indigenes of Otun-Ekiti, Moba local government have rejected ratification of Prince Adekunle Adeayo Adeagbo as the new Oore of Mobaland.
Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State had on Friday approved selection of Prince Adeagbo from Adifagbade of Ile-Iyaba Ruling House as the new king of the town
Some indigenes who spoke with our correspondent in the ancient town on Saturday hinted that only two out five kingmakers participated in the selection process marred by irregularities and non compliance with customs and traditional.
They accused THE KING MAKERS of not carrying the CONSULTATION with the oracle at the designated place which is known as IDI-EGUN at ODO-OJA and which is the place it has been done from time immemorial.
The kingmakers decided to change the venue to the palace of the head of the AFOBAJE, a.k.a OBANLA to prevent repercussions of contravening customs and traditions of selecting Oore of Mobaland
Chairman of Otun-Ekiti Youth Forum, Comrade Sunday Adebayo said another irregularities that marked the process is the absence of all the chiefs of the town that were to be present at the venue to watch the process.
