Kwara 2027: Oloriegbe Unveils 5-Point Agenda
Senator Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe on Thursday unveiled 5-point agenda for Kwara State development while declaring his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Oloriegbe announced his governorship bid at Diamond Event Centre, Ilorin amidst cheers and accolades from APC Stakeholders and Supporters.
The Medical Doctor said his ambition was driven by a sense of responsibility and the need for “tested judgment” in the next phase of Kwara’s development.
According to him, while the current administration has laid important foundations for governance and stability, the state now requires a leadership focused on “fuller delivery, stronger systems, and measurable progress.”
Drawing from his background as a medical doctor and public servant, Oloriegbe emphasised the need for competence and structure in governance, noting that effective leadership must go beyond intentions to deliver tangible results.
He highlighted his experience in both the Kwara State House of Assembly, where he served as Majority Leader, and the Senate, where he chaired the Committee on Health, as evidence of his capacity to lead.
The governorship aspirant outlined a five-point agenda centred on security, economic productivity, healthcare, social fairness, and effective governance.
On security, he pledged to prioritise the safety of lives and property, describing it as the primary responsibility of government. He also promised to drive economic growth by supporting agriculture and small businesses, while creating opportunities for youth employment.
Oloriegbe further assured of improvements in healthcare delivery, with a focus on strengthening primary care systems and ensuring access to affordable medical services across the state.
He stressed the need for inclusive governance, promising greater opportunities for women and young people, as well as fairness across all regions of the state.
Addressing party members, he called for unity, discipline, and maturity within the APC, urging leaders to present a capable and prepared candidate ahead of the 2027 elections.
Oloriegbe described his candidacy as a commitment to continuity with improvement, pledging to build on existing foundations while delivering more structured and accountable governance.
