Kwara PDP Delegates Will Attend Abuja Convention – Bawa
The Kwara Chapter of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday said delegates and stakeholders from the state would at Party’s National Convention in Abuja.
Kwara PDO Chairman, Hon. Isa Bawa disclosed this while addressing newsmen at the Party Secretariat, Ilorin.
Bawa said Kwara PDP leaders, elders, stakeholders, and aspirants agreed to participate in the National Convention slated for March 29, 2026 in Abuja.
According to him, the resolution followed an emergency meeting held in Ilorin, where members gathered despite the short notice. Discussions centered on whether the state should participate in the convention, having attended a similar one in Ibadan last year. In the end, stakeholders unanimously agreed that Kwara must be fully represented.
The Communique reads: “It was also decided that if the National Convention is successful and is witnessed by the regulatory body, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), as it is required by law, then, we, the stakeholders, will hold another meeting to review the situation and recommend to our leader to use the PDP as the platform for us to contest the 2027 general elections.
“We also concluded that the PDP remains a very popular, credible, well-known, widely accepted and solid platform and brand in all the 16 Local Government Areas of our State such that no other political party can match its reach and acceptability in the state. Therefore, the party in the state has remained unaffected by the developments at the national level.”
The communiqué was endorsed by Hon. Isa Bawa Adamu (State Chairman), Alhaji Ishola Balogun Fulani (Council of Elders), Hajia Nimotallahi Ibrahim (Board of Trustees), and Rt. Hon. Prof. Ali Ahmad (Aspirants).
