Ogun Moves To Demolish Portable’s Bar
By Femi Ogundele
The Ogun State government has announced plans to demolish Odogwu Bar Restaurant, owned by Hakeem Okikiola popularly known as Portable, for violating urban planning laws in Oke-Osa, Ogun State.
This was contained in a notice issued by the Ibogun Zonal Planning Office, IFO citing breaches of the Ogun State Urban and Regional Planning and Development Law No 61 of 2022 and the Planning and Development Permit Regulations 2022
According to the notice, Mr Habeeb was accused of developing the bar without obtaining an approved permit which is a violation of the state’s building regulations
In addition to lack of a permit, the notices also highlights inadequate air space which suggests that the building does not meet the required setback or spacing regulations as stipulated in the planning laws of Ogun State
The notice further indicates that the building is already completed and in use despite these contraventions raising concerns about compliance with planning and safety standards
The government has instructed portable to present all necessary documents including the planning permit to the authorities if they wish to dispute the contravention and failure to do so will result in enforcement actions.

“If you dispute the above contravention, you are required to bring all documents in support of your case including your planning permit to undersigned within 24hours of the service of this notice on the property,” the notice stated.
The government however give Portable 3-days deadline to comply with the directive and failure to act within this period will lead to the demolition of the structure by the government
This action aligns with the state government’s commitment to enforcing approved regulations, urging property owners to obtain proper permits before construction to avoid sanctions.
