The Director General of the National Orientation Agency, Dr. Garba Abari, has advised Nigerians to be committed to creating a society that is peaceful and secure in order to for all to enjoy national development.
Abari said this in Abuja on Wednesday at a press conference organized by the Passion for Peace Initiative (PPI) in collaboration with the agency to launch the One Voice Nigeria Project, a platform to amplify voices about the ongoing abnormalities in the country.
He therefore called on Nigerians to emulate PPI and spread the message of One Voice Nigeria as Nigeria strives to create a stable society conducive for both social and economic development.

According to him, One voice Nigeria Project has come out with a clarion call that we don’t have any option than to create a Nigeria that we all wish to see and wish to live in. without peace there cannot be any form of national development talk less of aspiring to attain any objective.
As we move towards the general elections we will be hearing various tunes and discordant voices, all these are aimed at trying to distract us from the big task of deepening our democracy, expanding our political space including bring about an inclusive governance through a free, fair and a credible election so that by the end of the day we will bring in a leadership that would be credible, honest, passionate about the country and would benefit the entire country in all ramifications.
Speaking at the press conference, the Executive Director of Passion for Peace Initiative, Ambassador George Lekan Jimoh, said Passion for Peace Initiative is synergizing with the NOA to raise awareness and re-orientate Nigerians (young and old) on the values of transparency, accountability, nationalism and patriotism.
Amb Lekan Jimoh said the group is concerned about “agitations from parts of the country for a split. We have seen the enormous height we can attain as a nation by being together.
“And this togetherness has brought us friendship from across the country. We have intermarried. We sit and watch soccer together without bringing down the roof. We wine and dine together celebrating each other’s breakthrough and success stories. Our differences only become pronounced when we talk about leadership,” he said.
He said the group, on the platform of One Voice Nigeria Project would visit the six Geo Political zones of the country with the message of peace and a united Nigeria.
He also stated that the objective of the project was to ramp up sensitize and orientate of Nigerians on the need to speak together with one voice against the things and people that desire to tear the country apart.
