Red Alert! Five People Die of COVID-19 January 1

Five people reportedly died of COVID-19 complications in Nigeria on January 1, 2021.

This Nigeria Centre for Diseases Control (NCDC) announced via a teaser statement on the centre’s website.

Nigeria records 1074 new confirmed cases from 15 states as Lagos maintains lead as epicentre with 642.

The 1074 new cases are reported from 15 states- Lagos (642), Kaduna (92), Rivers (78), FCT (66), Gombe (66), Kano (35), Ogun (31), Katsina (22), Plateau (20), Abia (7), Niger (4), Oyo (4), Akwa Ibom (3), Delta (2), and Osun (2).

Till date, 88587 cases have been confirmed, 74373 cases have been discharged and 1294 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory

NCDC revealed that the multi-sectoral national emergency operations centre (EOC) activated at Level 3 will continues to coordinate the national response activities.
