Sanwo-Olu Appoints 111 Permanent Secretaries in Six Years
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Thursday swore in eight new Permanent Secretaries, bringing the total number appointed under his administration to 111 since 2019.
The swearing-in ceremony, held at Lagos House, Ikeja, was attended by top government officials, including the Head of Service, Olabode Agoro, who emphasized the government’s commitment to strengthening the public service.
The newly appointed Permanent Secretaries are Olanrewaju Bajulaye (Ministry of Arts, Tourism and Culture), Abiola Idowu (Health Facility Monitoring and Accreditation, HEFAMAA), Aderinsola Olanrewaju (Citizens Mediation Bureau), Tajudeen Mahmud (Ministry of Finance), Wasiu Agbabiaka (Civil Service Commission), and Adebayo Olayinka (Ministry of Wealth Creation).
Gbolahan Oki will assume office as Permanent Secretary, Urban Development, Ministry of Physical Planning, on May 19, while Ajibike Onigbanjo will take over as Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, after the retirement of the current officeholder.
Governor Sanwo-Olu charged the new appointees to uphold professionalism, integrity, and accountability while ensuring efficient service delivery in their respective ministries.
He urged them to align with the THEMES+ developmental agenda and drive policies that will enhance governance in Lagos.
“These appointments are crucial for maintaining efficiency in our civil service and ensuring continuity in governance,” he said.
“You must lead by example, demonstrate excellence, and remain committed to policies that improve the lives of Lagosians,” he added.
He also warned against partisanship and personal interests, emphasizing that their loyalty should be to the vision and mission of the administration rather than individuals.
The Head of Service, Mr Olabode Agoro, said the selection process was based on merit, fairness, and transparency, with a biennial screening exercise to ensure that only the most qualified candidates were appointed.
He urged the new appointees to work closely with their respective ministries and departments to fulfill their mandates effectively.
Speaking on behalf of the new Permanent Secretaries, Aderinsola Olanrewaju pledged their commitment to delivering on the administration’s developmental goals and thanked the governor for the opportunity to serve.
