Sanwo-Olu launches 15 high-capacity boats
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Wednesday launched 15 high-capacity, locally fabricated boats to boost water transportation in the State.
According to Sanwo-Olu, this initiative not only enhances our waterways but also showcases our commitment to sustainable, efficient, and reliable transport options for all Lagosians.
These new ferries, fabricated in partnership with Caverton Marine, are designed to carry 40 passengers each, doubling the capacity of our existing vessels. This project marks the beginning of a new era in water transportation, offering a faster, cleaner, and more comfortable commute.

The Governor said the deployment of these ferries will reduce traffic congestion and improve connectivity between communities, thereby saving hours lost in traffic.
His words: “This initiative aligns perfectly with our THEMES+ agenda, promoting pollution-free mobility and integrating an intermodal transportation system. The new ferries operate on the Cowry Card payment system, ensuring seamless and efficient service for all users.
“Our commitment to enhancing the Lagos transportation system is unwavering. With new patrol boats, a Search and Rescue Unit, and a floating clinic, we are ensuring that our waterways are safe and efficient.”
