Saraki’s Ally Tips for PDP National Chairman

A long time political ally of former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, Alhaji Kawu Baraje has been tipped to emerge as the National Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party.

Baraje, 74-year-old indigene of Kwara State is jostling for the position with former Minister of Information, Professor Jerry Gana, former party chairman, Kawu Baraje and ex-Kaduna State Governor Ahmed Makarfi ahead PDP National Convention slated for November 15, 2025 in Ibadan.

Our Correspondent reports that Stakeholders within The opposition party are pushing for a consensus approach in selecting a new national chairman.

Reliable party sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to lack of authorisation to speak on the matter, told The PUNCH that the acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, was also working to secure the role in a substantive capacity.
