School Reopening: BBYDI Highlights States’ Post COVID-19 Recovery Procedures
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Federal Government of Nigeria on the 26th of March, 2020 announced the closure of schools across the country as a precautionary step aimed at preventing the spread of the dreaded Coronavirus (Covid-19).
Schools at all levels from elementary to high school and tertiary institutions went on a compulsory holiday. This is to strengthen social distancing amongst all the preventive measures as set by the global health community and protect the lives of citizens.
In spite of external examinations and the great distortion in the academic calendar, many schools adhered to the call until the Government directed, after sensing significant ease in the COVID-19 situation around the globe, the reopening of schools.
The Governors of each state is saddled with the responsibility of ensuring best practices and providing necessary materials for the school re-opening.
