Senator Ashiru Disburses N15million To Business Owners in Kwara South

The Deputy Senate Leader and Senator representing Kwara South, Arc Oyelola Yisa Ashiru has doled out N15 million to members of the Alajobi Multi-Purpose Co-operative.

This marks the third phase of support provided by the Senator to the cooperative, a support group under the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Beneficiaries of this latest intervention were selected from different local government areas within Kwara South.

Senator Ashiru emphasized that the financial support aims to foster economic self-reliance among his constituents, describing it as a vital measure to address the ongoing economic challenges and hunger affecting the region.

“This intervention is part of our continuous effort towards wealth creation and ensuring our people become economically self-reliant. This is the best measure we can offer to mitigate the prevailing state of economic hardship and hunger,” he said.

The Senator’s commitment to the cooperative began in September 2023 when he reactivated Alajobi Co-operative Society with a substantial amount of N20 million. The initial phase of funding was utilized to purchase five tricycles and three motorcycles, which were distributed among cooperative members. Additionally, a portion of the grant was allocated as cash assistance to help some members start their own businesses.

The second phase, which occurred in January 2024, extended support to cooperative members from Ekiti, Oke-Ero, and Oyun Local Governments. During this phase, members received tricycles, motorcycles, and monetary grants ranging from N200,000 to N500,000, providing crucial relief amid the nation’s challenging economic landscape.

This ongoing support from Senator Ashiru reaffirms his dedication to improving the economic well-being of his constituents and highlights the strategic role of cooperative societies in community development and poverty alleviation.
