Trump Confirms Sale of 12 Tucano Fighter Jets to Nigeria
Buhari called on United States President to support the Nigeria’s war against terrorism.
He commended Trump led administration for assisting the country in ongoing fight against insurgency in the North East.
He also thanked Trump for facilitating the sales of 12 Tucano fighter aircrafts to Nigeria, calling on US to help the country in rebuilding North East zone destroyed by Boko haram insurgents.
Nigeria’s President expressed readiness to align with United States’ efforts in the global war against terrorism.
Buhari had earlier during the closed door meeting updated Trump on his achievements in area of security, economic, anti graft war, agriculture among others.
He disclosed that the federal government will find a lasting solution to herders/farmers incessants clashes.
The US President while speaking described Nigeria as a great friend and valued partner ofUnited States with long standing diplomatic relationship, adding he has great respect for President Muhammadu Buhari.
Trump confirmed sales of 12 sophiscated fighter jets to Nigeria, noting that he has removed embargo on the sales of military weapons to the country.
He however refused to reveal when the jets will be delivered to Nigeria.
He applauded Buhari led government recorded in anti corruption war.
