UAE will eliminate tariffs on 7000 Nigerian products – Tinubu
Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates have signed a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), marking a historic milestone in trade and investment relations between the two nations.
The agreement is expected to provide new opportunities for Nigerian businesses, professionals, and workers, while strengthening economic ties under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The bilateral agreement was signed during the 2026 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week Summit, with President Bola Tinubu, UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Nigeria’s Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, and UAE Minister of Foreign Trade Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi in attendance.
Tinubu said under the CEPA, the UAE will eliminate tariffs on over 7,000 Nigerian products immediately, including agricultural and industrial goods such as fish, seafood, cereals, cotton, pharmaceuticals, and chemicals.

According to him, over the next three to five years, tariffs on Nigerian machinery, vehicles, electrical equipment, apparel, and furniture will also be removed.
Tinubu pointed out that the agreement allows Nigerian businesses to establish operations in the UAE through corporate entities, branches, or subsidiaries, saying that business visitors can enter the UAE for up to 90 days in 12 months, and corporate executives, managers, and specialists can relocate under renewable three-year visas.
