Wahab Oba: Tell us about Saraki’s AP-DP status?
By Ibraheem Abdullateef
I have just read Mr Wahab Oba’s article which he titled ‘behind the mask: ADC, Abdulrazaq, and the opposition’s dilemma’.
It is a futile attempt to hide the confusion in which Wahab Oba and his fellow foot soldiers of Senator Bukola Saraki have found themselves in Kwara today. But Wahab Oba has egocentric bias. In egocentric bias, you think that people don’t know your truth and that only your perspective matters. Poor thing. Kwarans know the truth of Wahab Oba and his follow-follow crew, even as they struggle in futility to cover the sun with their hand. Governor AbdulRazaq’s achievements in Kwara State are a kin to the light radiated by the sun. It cannot be dimmed by the mischief of Wahab Obas. AbdulRazaq and the people of Kwara State stand firmly with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his reelection bid.
Here is the gist that should worry Oba and his crew members in Kwara PDP.
Having totally exhausted the political capital left for him by his own father, the Nigerian political map of today shows that former Governor Bukola Saraki has outlived his political relevance.
While he is pretending to be leading a so-called reconciliation of the PDP, the real power brokers within the party know his chameleonic tendencies, they know he is only mouthing PDP while he mortgages the party for his own selfish interest, and so they have no trust in anything that he does. They know he is struggling to be accepted in Aso Rock where he is begging cap in hand to work for President Tinubu.
No one could have exposed Senator Saraki better than the SouthEast caucus of the PDP which made it clear that they don’t trust Saraki. Being republicans, Ndigbo can be very blunt and unsparing. So their decision to lay bare what others say in hush tones is not surprising.
This is the reality today, which the larger PDP family knows in Abuja: Saraki has left his foot soldiers or anyone wanting to save the PDP at sea. He is sweating day and night to find his way to the APC, but his past records of betrayal have nullified his desperation to ingratiate himself with President Bola Tinubu whom he once insulted and undermined at different times.
Haunted by his record of betrayal and desperation, neither ADC nor the APC wants to see him anywhere close to their circle.
Just so Wahab Oba knows, Saraki, without being solicited to do so, is purporting to work for the re-election of President Tinubu in exchange for his own political relevance and to make Kwara his fiefdom again. Fool me once….
This is an open secret within the PDP, hence nobody trusts him within that circle. Whilst he engineers his boys in Kwara to condemn the President and futuristic economic policies and rejuvenation of the economy, Saraki is playing a politics of survival in Abuja to save his skin.
Shunned by the President and key stakeholders owing to his history of past misbehaviours and serpentine nature, he is going around working with some fringe elements to destabilize APC in Kwara. He is telling his boys like Wahab Oba to be discrediting the Governor in the expectation that the President might look at his side. Fa, fa, foul! The President and his team know that the Governor has been a dependable ally, as opposed to a Bukola Saraki with a history of political betrayals.
Sarakites may want to know that the sole reason that Saraki is not in ADC, despite his ego being deflated in his attempt to join APC, is because former Vice President Atiku Abubakar said he cannot have anything to do with Saraki because of his record of political treachery.
Wahab Oba and his co-travelers are at sea. They don’t know whether to sail left or right. This is why they are desperate to denigrate and insult the Governor. Wahab Oba is a crisis merchant. When he is not castigating traditional rulers for not dancing to the evil mystic of his masters, he is meddling in issues he barely understands.
As things stand today, Saraki is knocking fervently at the gate of Aso Rock begging for his sins to he forgiven. That is why, as a so-called leader of the opposition, he has steered clear of saying anything that can upset those working out his visa to APC. So his boys who continue to attack the President and the Governor back home are disposable cannon fodders, while Saraki is already seeking accommodation in APC. He is hated in PDP because his game is known to all. Worst stilll, neither the APC nor even the ADC where his erstwhile associates have found shelter is willing to admit him. He is a stranded politician.
