We Appreciate Your Contributions To Journalism, ASKOMP Hails Ex-NBC Director General

The Association of Kwara Online Media Practitioners (ASKOMP) has applauded contributions of former Director General National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), Dr Ishaq Modibbo Kawu to journalism in Nigeria.

ASKOMP Chairman and Publisher of Informant247, Taofeek Salihu stated this on Tuesday when Modibbo Kawu hosted the association members to Iftar at his Ilorin residence.

His words: “We count it as privilege to interact with you today. I also want to acknowledge your contributions and dedication to journalism profession in Kwara State and Nigeria.”

Salihu also lauded the former Daily Trust Editor for his insightful contributions and prayed for his continued strength and impact in the industry.

In his remarks, Dr. Modibo-Kawu restated his commitment towards promoting press freedom, noting that he will oppose any law to regulate digital platforms by government.

He noted that such laws are unconstitutional and threat to freedom of expression.

Modibbo Kawu however implored Online Journalists to uphold journalistic ethics and standards.

He however called for continuous training and capacity building for journalists using digital platforms to disseminate their contents.
