Oyewale Oyelola, Ilorin
The Kwara State Governor Elect, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has stated that the state has talents and resources to make it great.
Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq disclosed this on Thursday while inaugurating 80-member transition Committee at Arch Santa Event Centre, Ilorin.
He said the Transition Committee will serve as link between incumbent and incoming administrations as well as facilitate smooth transition in the state.
His words: ”…To do that, we must understand the current governance structure in the state; we must know how the current system works to be able to know where to begin, what current policy would be retained, and what policy must go. We also need to know what is in the books in terms of financial receipts, obligations, contracts and other things.
”This is why we have taken our time to nominate some of the best hands around — in terms of competence, credibility and maturity — as members of this committee, with proper accommodation of the various political tendencies in our political party. In essence, the most crucial work of this committee is to ensure we hit the ground running on May 29th.
”As can be seen from the roll call, the committee is peopled by individuals with proven integrity and experience while attention was also paid to gender balance, youth inclusion and sociopolitical diversity of our state.”
Abdulrazaq hinted that the committee will broken into at least 10 subcommittees like Government Finance and Account, Real Sector, Politics and Governance, Judiciary, among others for effective discharge of their duties.

In his reaction, the Transition Committee Chairman, an Alumnus National Institute of Policies and Strategic Studies, Kuru, Aminu Adisa Logun said the committee will do thorough, detailed and diligent job to facilitate smooth transition.
Logun added that the committee will get necessary data, review projects programmes of incumbent administration and make recommendations to help the incoming APC government.

He however implored the committee members to focus on their responsibilities and avoid any action that could dent their image.
The Transition Committee Chairman noted that it’s not their responsibility to recommend anybody for appointment in the incoming administration.
APC Chieftain, Prof Oba Abdulrahman, Kwara APC Chairman, Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa, Party stakeholders and members attended the event.
