YOWICAN Kwara Awards WAEC Scholarships to over 20 Beneficiaries
The Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN) Kwara State Chapter has officially launched Phase III of its Empowerment Scheme (YES), with the awarding of WAEC scholarships to over 20 beneficiaries across the 16 Local Government Areas of the state.
This milestone event took place on November 23, 2024, at the YOWICAN Empowerment Scheme launch held in Ilorin. Held at St. Barnabas Cathedral Church, Ilorin.
The Chairman of YOWICAN Kwara State, Evangelist Stephen Adeola Awoyale, in his keynote address, expressed profound gratitude to God for His continuous guidance and to all supporters of the initiative, including SEAP Nigeria Limited, State Government and numerous other sponsors and donors.
He acknowledged their unwavering commitment to the empowerment of Christian youth in Kwara State.
The YOWICAN Empowerment Schemelaunched with a vision to provide financial, educational and entrepreneurial support to Christian youths, has already achieved significant milestones.
In Phase I,the scheme empowered 50 young entrepreneurs with cash grants of #30,000 and provided 5 sewing machines to help promote skills acquisition.
In Phase II, over 20 students in higher institutions were supported with school fees of #40,000 to ease their academic journeys.
The newly launched Phase III focuses on educational support by awarding WAEC scholarships to over 20 students. These scholarships aim to alleviate the financial burdens on students and their families while promoting academic excellence within the Christian community.
Education is not just a means of acquiring knowledge,but a tool for fulfilling God’s purpose in our lives,” Chairman Awoyale remarked.
“By investing in the education of our youth, we are building a brighter future for individuals, the Church, and society.”
In addition to the scholarship program, Phase III also includes plans to establish the YOWICAN House, a center for mentorship, training, and administrative activities, and to expand vocational training programs to equip more youth with sustainable livelihoods.
Evangelist Awoyale also called on Government, philanthropist, stakeholders, and partners to continue supporting the initiative through financial contributions, prayers, and active participation.
The event was attended by distinguished guests, including state executives, Bloc Leaders, Local Government Coordinators, beneficiaries, and community leaders.
YOWICAN continues to strengthen its mission to provide Christian youths in Kwara State with opportunities to thrive, grow in their faith, and become impactful leaders in society.
