The Chairman of Nigeria Governors’ Forum and Zamfara State Governor, Abdulaziz Yari has said the recent directive of Nigeria Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) on financial management of local government would affect smooth running of governance at the grassroots.
Governor Yari in a statement issued by his Special Adviser, Ibrahim Dosara said the forum also expressed concern over the recent guidelines issued by the Nigeria Financial Intelligence Unit, NFIU, which seeks to impose restrictions on the powers of states and local governments.
They said the restrictions would be detrimental to Basic Universal Education Programme, Primary Health Care, as well as payment of primary School Teachers in the Governors’ respective states.
The governors also deliberated on the issue of National Security situation and resolved to hold a meeting with the President to find real and lasting solutions to the security challenges facing the country.
